Talihina Sky: The Story of Kings of Leon, Documentary

Following the success of “Only By the Night: Home Movies,” Phear Creative directed and produced Talihina Sky: The Story of Kings of Leon, a feature-length documentary that captures the brand’s genesis and follows their transition from religious devotion to rock ’n’ roll super stardom.

The film was a hit among Kings of Leon fans around the world, and earned Phear Creative significant praise in the music and film industries. In 2011, the film received a Grammy Award nomination for “Best Long Form Music Video,” was selected for the Tribeca Film Festival and played in more than 60 film festivals globally.

Only By the Night Home Movies: Giving Fans a Candid Look at the Band

When the Kings of Leon needed an unconventional approach to launch their album Only By the Night, we created an online viral marketing program that gave fans a candid look at the lives of the band members.

“Only By the Night: The Home Movies” was a daily series of 23 online clips leading up to the album’s release. The clips had an honest, authentic style that revealed a personal side to the members of the band.

After the first clip launched, it received more than 50,000 online views a day. The band’s YouTube channel hit number 1 during the campaign. The “home movies” have had more than 9 million views to date and the album has sold more than 9 million copies thus far.
